My name is Yvonne Trang but Sunny Louise was the identity I gave myself on my fake ID when I was 16. One of the sole purposes of getting this ID was to attend concerts that were 19+. Even at a young age, I was determined to go extra lengths in order to satisfy the inner craving I had to see live creation. As an artist myself, I have always seen art as a form of self expression– it gave me a home outside of my body. When life felt dull or melancholy, the ability to transport into my imagination through a pen and pencil was transcending. The act of creation, whether that is a drawing, a song, or an article of clothing, has and continues to leave me speechless. The creativity I see around me everyday is infinite, and incredibly inspiring to me. 

 

     The idea for SunnyLouise blossomed when a friend of mine recently renovated his house. His mom had just thrown her annual Christmas party and was eager to host more events. Around the same time, I had just started my first year in undergrad again after switching majors and taking some time off. I was now in a much more expressive program and was meeting all different kinds of creatives. I was in awe of everybody's talent and potential. A friend of a friend, at the time, mentioned wanting to plan an event for the creative collective they were a part of. I figured my friend’s house could be a perfect fit– as his mom is an enthusiast of the arts herself. 

 

     Since I was young, I had always been told I was good at bringing people together. A multimedia art event was the last thing I envisioned myself doing, but somehow it almost all came together on its own. I believe art is truly the most effective when it is done collaboratively and Sunny Louise events are able to capture this perfectly. I am beyond blessed to be surrounded by creative people everyday and I am proud to be able to share their talents with the world.
